How do you establish a proper respirator maintenance program as part of the RPP?
A respirator maintenance program includes procedures for cleaning, disinfecting, storing, inspecting, repairing, discarding, and otherwise maintaining respirators. Cleaning and disinfection should be carried out as often as necessary to prevent them from becoming unsanitary. Regular inspection for defects (during cleaning, before each use) and appropriate repair or disposal of defective parts is crucial. Storage should prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve. Additionally, it should provide for respirator accessibility in case of an emergency.
